Venue Spotlight: Art Gallery of Hamilton

When it comes to finding a venue for your wedding day, traditional options such as a church, banquet hall, or hotel, are often top of mind. Fortunately there is hope for couples looking for something a little more contemporary. Sometimes, all you need to do is take a look around your city to find a unique venue. Sometimes, thinking outside the traditional wedding box can lead you to the most unique venue. This is definitely the case in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, where we had the pleasure of carrying out wedding day coordination this fall at the Art Gallery of Hamilton (AGH).

The AGH is Ontario’s third largest public art gallery and features over 9,000 works of art including both historical and contemporary art. In October 2003, the AGH underwent an $18 million renovation project, that when completed, garnered the Excellence in Architectural Design Award (Hamilton’s Urban Design and Architecture Awards 2005).

The Joey and Toby Tanenbaum Pavilion, with direct access to the Irving Zucker Sculpture Garden, offers couples the unique opportunity to have their ceremony and reception in one convenient location. An added bonus: after the ceremony is over, the guests are free to enjoy the gallery and garden before the reception begins.

The beauty of this glass-enclosed facility is that it can easily be transformed into the bride and groom’s vision. The white space and clean lines of the room allow for a multitude of décor options, truly creating a one-of-a-kind space. Whether you are looking for an afternoon celebration with the sun streaming in, or you want to dance the night away under the stars, the AGH promises to deliver an unforgettable experience!

Lastly, the icing on the wedding cake - the AGH has partnered with Sol e Mar Catering Fine Food to provide every couple with an outstanding menu. Whether you are looking for a seated dinner for up to 200 guests, or a cocktail reception for up to 235, you are sure to find exactly what you are looking for. Trust us – we’ve had the food and it was amazing!
